Clarence Church Becomes Museum
The 1843 Stone Meeting House at 10465 Main Street in Clarence is becoming the new home of the Clarence Historical Society.
The 149-year-old building was built by the Disciples of Christ and subsequently saw service as a guest villa and restaurant.
When the restaurant closed, the East Hill Foundation purchased it and is now leasing it to the Historical Society and will sell it to the town for $252,280.
The foundation is also paying 40% of the renovation costs and helping in fundraising. Other restoration funds are coming from the Buffalo Foundation, the state and from fund-raisers and contributions.
The Historical Society is hoping to move in this summer.
