Batavia Says Good-bye to Last Barn

The only full size barn in the city of Batavia has been torn down. The three-story plank structure was a remnant of the many farms that used to occupy the area.

The barn was there when the owner Morris Johnson was born in 1906. Over the years the barn's been used for steers, chickens and storage, once egg production ended in 1974. Plans are to use the still-good wood to build a garage.
