Austin Fox Delivers the Goods on Delaware
A lecture by historian Austin Fox is an event not to be missed, which was evident by the standing-room-only crowd for his April 3rd talk on "Old Delaware Avenue: The Family Portrait and Family Homes."
Fox led the audience through a slide presentation of Delaware Avenue mansions with entertaining and sometimes colorful vignettes about the notable Buffalo families of Mabel Dodge, Katharine Cornell, the Hoyt sisters, the Goodyears, the Rumseys, and others who lived there at the turn of the century.
The Village of Williamsville's Meeting House on Main Street provided an interesting historic setting in the former Church of Christ Disciples (1871) but with 200 in attendance the seating on pews was very cozy.
