Volunteer, Pro Bono & Donation Opportunities
The Preservation Coalition relies on members and other volunteers to do its work.
With a lot of hands it is possible to move mountains. We are always looking to update
our list of the ‘Preservation Reserve.’ All positions are on an as-needed basis.
Particularly prized are people who can work between 9 & 5. Perfect for people
between jobs, students looking for rewarding internships (rather than indentured
servitude), the idle rich who don't want to be idle, etc. Use your skills and enjoy
the excitement that comes with saving a building or shaping the city.
•Typists/wordprocessors. We have tons of documents, letters, and articles awaiting
input into our computers. Work in our office, at home or at work when the boss isn't
looking.
•Writers/researchers. Attend, report on civic meetings, events, do related background
research.
•Photographers/videographers. Illustrate Preservation Report stories, slide presentations,
architectural documentation projects.
•Artists/Architectural renderers. There is nothing like a skillfully rendered drawing
to convey information related to design issues and to focus discussion.
•Construction/rehabilitation cost estimating.
•Tour guide/researchers. Should have a background in art history or design and a
strong interest in local history.
•Meeting planner. We need people who are skilled at using the phone to line up meeting
places and equipment for our various activities and handle on-site logistics.
•Foot soldiers. Stuffing envelopes, affixing labels, distributing the Preservation
Report, posting notices, problem solving.
